About us

A small collective, practicing a very old art.

Urban Ikebana began as a few friends meeting weekly to arrange flowers and slow down. Today we are a collective of trained Ikebana artists teaching the practice of Japanese flower arrangement across New York City.

Ikebana asks for less, not more: a few stems, empty space, and attention. Our classes keep that spirit — small groups, seasonal materials, and a quiet hour where the arrangement matters less than the arranging.

What we hold to

Three things we never skip.

01

Season first

We buy what the week offers, not what a catalog promises. Every class starts with what is alive right now.

02

Beginner welcome

Most of our students have never arranged a flower. The forms are old, but the door is open.

03

Take it home

Everything you make leaves with you — the arrangement, the vessel, and the habit of looking closely.
